Organize files in folders on Mac. Everything on your Mac—documents, pictures, music, apps, and more—is organized in folders. As you create documents, install apps, and do other work, you can create new folders to keep yourself organized.
Manually copy your library to an external storage device: Drag the Photos library (by default in the Pictures folder on your Mac) to your storage device to create a copy. If you have more than one photo library, be sure to back them all up.
Ever since Lion (OS X 10.7), Apple has hidden your personal Library folder (~/Library) by default. In Lion and Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8), you could make the folder visible, but it required some work.
