Unlike in USA and other countries which have DRL's built into the headlights, in Australia, New Zealand (and maybe elsewhere?) we simply have a secondary bulb built into the fog / driving lights. The globe is an ugly yellow halogen light and is permanently on while driving unless you have your headlights or parkers turned on. In my opinion they are really ugly and I got sick of looking at 2 yellow dots on the back of every car I was driving behind! This guide shows how to disconnect the DRL's and still retain the use of your fog lights.

There are a few easy methods to turn these off, but I went with what I thought was the simplest which is simply to disconnect the DRL wiring from the back of the globe. And this can be done easily by removing the plastic panel tray underneath the lights and engine and simply pulling out the plug - easy! Should be a 10 min - 30 min job and exactly the same process on both sides.

This will disable the DRL lights, but will still allow you to use the fog lights when you turn them on when you decide.
