Hey guys, John here with realtruck.com. Today I’m gonna show you how to install Billstein 5100 series front performance shock absorber on this 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 2500.
So guys, we've got our shocks out of the box. You can see here, these are some pretty nice looking shocks. They come with everything you need to get them installed on the truck. All your hardware. They come complete with these boots on them, which is gonna help protect these shocks when we're off-roading with this, if that's what we do. So let's get these on the truck.
So the first thing we need to do is get this truck up in the air, get the front tires off of it. And then once we do that, then we're gonna let it back down and get to these top bolts from underneath the hood, which is the easiest way to do that. And then we'll raise it back up, pull these the rest of the way out, and get ready to put our new ones in. So let's get to it.
So as you guys can see here, pretty simple process to remove this old shock out of the truck. So we've got everything here removed, ready to go. So we can put our new ones in. So let's get the new ones in there.
Okay guys, you can see down here on the bottom, we went ahead and reused the factory bolt that came with the truck. But on the top what we're gonna do is we're gonna use the new hardware that comes with our new Billstein shocks. And these are a self-locking nut and a washer. And we're just gonna put these on the top up here.
Now if you're getting your tools out and getting ready, something to keep in mind is that these are actually a different size nut than the factory ones you took off so you'll need a different wrench or socket for those.
Okay, so what we're gonna do then is we're gonna go ahead and tighten this bottom one down and then we'll go over and do the shock on the other side. And then we'll let the truck back down, tighten up the top, put our tires back on.
We've got our shocks on our truck. So what we're gonna do now then is we're gonna lower it down and tighten up our top ones. If you don't want to lower it down, you could actually just go in here with a wrench, it just takes longer, and wrench these down. But to save time we're gonna lower this down and zip them down with an impact. So let's get that done. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!
