Description from the creator

You're driving your Jeep Commander down the road (or to a family barbecue), and your "Check Engine" light comes on. You could spend the entire family barbecue worrying about what's wrong with your Jeep...or you could pull the trouble codes when you arrive, and sneak a few minutes on Google to figure out what they mean.
This is the process to get the vehicle information display to show you the stored trouble codes. You can not clear the codes this way, but you can read them, and take appropriate action.

1. Get in the drivers seat with the engine off, key out, and doors closed.
2. Insert the key in the ignition.
3. Cycle from "Off" to "On" very rapidly, 5 times.
4. On the 6th time, cycle to "on", and leave it there.
5. The vehicle information display in the instrument cluster will now start cycling through your stored trouble codes.

I recommend using your cell phone video camera to record the trouble codes as they're displayed. This way you don't have to go through the key cycle process more than necessary
