HEADER: “How to Post a Photo to Facebook ”
Hello, and welcome to the tutorial “How to Post a Photo to Facebook.” Today, we’re going to be taking a photo saved on our PC/Mac and uploading it to Facebook. Once you know the steps, it’s actually a very simple process.
[0:18]
HEADER: Select and Upload Photo
We our already logged into our Facebook account and are looking at our News Feed. The easiest way to upload a photo is to go to the status bar and click on “Add Photos/Video,” which will automatically prompt the navigation window.
Since our photo is saved on our desktop, we will click on ‘Desktop,’ find and select the photo we want, and click on ‘Open.’
[0:51]
HEADER: Two Extra Features.
Now that our photo has been loaded, we could finish the process by clicking ‘Post’.However, Facebook has several extra features we can apply to this photo. Today, we will add a caption, tag friends, and change our privacy settings.
[1:11]
HEADER: Adding a Caption
To add a caption, click on the area that says, “Say something about this photo.” The cursor will flash, and you can type in your caption.
[1:30]
HEADER: Tagging Friends.
Facebook will also let us identify who is in the photo by adding tags. By tagging a friend, we are telling Facebook we want the photo to appear on their profile and in their photos, as well as in our own.
If we hover our cursor over the photo,a label will appear with the word ‘Tag’. If we click the tag icon Facebook will ask “Who is this?” We can then begin typing the name of the friend we want to tag.Because Facebook is smart, it will automatically prompt us with suggestions based on our list of friends.
We then select the appropriate name, and move on to the next friend. Now that we are finished tagging everyone, we click on “Close” . We can now see the names of the friends we have tagged appear below the photo (and beside the caption).
[2:27]
HEADER: Privacy Settings.
Facebook also allows us the option of choosing who we want to see our photo. We can select our privacy settings by going to the drop-down menu beside the “Post” button. If we click on “More Options,” we see the full range of possibilities.
Currently, the privacy is set for “Friends,” meaning that only the people we are friends with will be able to view this photo. We could also choose to make the photo public , so that anyone on Facebook could potentially see it. Or, if we want to keep the photo private, we could select the ‘Only Me’ option with the lock beside it.It is important to note that if we choose Only Me, but have tagged friends in the photo, they will still be able to view it.
We would like our photo to be for friends only, so we will choose that option. Now that we have added a caption, tagged our friends, and selected our privacy settings, we will publish the photo by clicking on the ‘Post’ button .
[3:35]
HEADER: Published
We can now see our photo on our News Feed, and our friends will receive notifications that they have been tagged in a new photo.
To repeat what we went over in this tutorial, lets upload another photo. We will click “Add Photos/Video” in the status bar; find and open our photo stored on the desktop; We will type a caption; and tag some friends. Lastly, we will select the privacy level and click ‘Post’.
Thank you for watching and have fun sharing your photos!
