The Independent Schools Show 2016

Featuring:
Susan Hamlyn, Director of The Good Schools Guide Education Consultants
Ben Nicholls, Director of Social Responsibility at Charterhouse School

Our speakers address the hard fact that sending your child to an independent school is expensive. As Susan Hamlyn tells us, there is some variation in fees according to the location of the school - for example, independent day schools in the south of England often cost 25% more than those in the north of England, Wales and Scotland.

Financial support for school fees is made available to families in the form of scholarships and bursaries. Schools tend to use the phrase “Fee Assistance” for this support. In total, UK independent schools devote £850 million per annum to Fee Assistance.

Our speakers explain exactly what scholarships and bursaries are, the Dos and Don'ts when applying for them, plus the ten golden rules of managing Fee Assistance applications.

Successful application for Fee Assistance certainly cannot be guaranteed, but a realistic, careful and considered request can change a child’s life.
