Description from the creator

This video demonstrates the recipes and techniques necessary for aluming paper in preparation for marbling.

Marbling paper in the Ebru (Turkish) style requires that the paper first be treated using a mordant, in this case alum mixture. The alum helps the pigments used in marbling to adhere to the paper. Without a mordant the pigments will simply slide off the paper.

Christin Ripley, of Studio in the Round, demonstrates her recipes for alum mixing and application.

Alumed paper has a shelf life, and should be used within 4 days of preparation.
