How to Block YouTube on Your Computer and Mobile Devices

Learn how to block YouTube on your computer or mobile devices with this helpful video tutorial. We’ll show you 4 methods you can use to restrict YouTube.

Method 1: “Block Site” browser extension
Open Google Chrome. Click the three dots in the top right. Hover over More Tools, then click Extensions. Click Get More Extensions. Click in the search bar and type in Block Site. Click Add to Chrome. Click Add Extension. Click the Block Site icon. Click Options. In the “list of blocked sites” box, type in youtube.com. Click Add Page.

Method 2: Change the settings on your Wi-Fi router
Open your web browser. In the address bar, enter your network’s default IP address. Log in to access your admin account. Access your router’s site blocking options. These settings will vary depending on your router and Internet provider. Finally, add youtube.com to your list of blocked websites.

Method 3: Block YouTube through your device settings
Open your device’s settings. Select General. Then, select Restrictions. Tap Enable Restrictions, then type your passcode to confirm. Next, tap Websites. Then, tap Limit Adult Content. Under “Never Allow,” tap Add a Website. Type in www.youtube.com, then tap Done to save the restriction you added.

Method 4: YouTube Restricted Mode
To enable YouTube Restricted Mode, open the YouTube site in your browser, and log into your account. Scroll to the bottom of the page, then click Restricted Mode. Click On to enable it, then click Save. You can also set up Restricted Mode on the YouTube app for iOS or Android if you wish.
