In this video I show comprehensive step by step instructions on how I build an A-Frame debris shelter (sometimes referred to as a double lean to). There are many ways to build this shelter, for example there are many people that create the shelter by placing the main support in the "Y" of a tree as opposed to relying on the "A" to hold the entire structure up. This way is not incorrect; it is just a different method.

Here I will summarize the basic steps and materials that were used in the construction of the shelter. You can check out my blog (nomoreop4.blogspot.com) if you would like more in depth step by step instructions.

1) Select an area to build the shelter.
2) Clear the area. (churn up earth for insulation in colder climates)
3) Find a stout main support beam and cut its branches.
4) Find two stout support beams and lash them together.
5) Rest the main beam on the support frames and anchor all there into the ground.
6) Lash the main beams to the support frames.
7) Create a mid-way support beam and lash it to the main beam.
8) Collect various sticks and logs to cover the shelter. (alternate sides, cut their branches off as well)
9) Cover entire shelter with smaller sticks to increase surface area for debris.
10) Cover entire shelter with debris. Use whatever is available. (amount of debris will depend on weather)

Equipment Used:
RTAK 2
Kabar
CRKT M16-12ZER
Trailblazer Sawvivor Saw
Small Hand Trowel
Construction Tarp (for debris transport only)
Approx 25' of 550 Paracord
All debris was found within 50m of camp location
