Another thing to consider is the words that you use when communicating with people. Use words that are genuine, sincere and relatable. Then say them in a way that allows people in. Think of your words as music, is it pleasurable to listen to or is it abrasive?

The last thing to consider is to step up and take ownership in the things you do and say. This is critical to building trust - if you screw up then be honest and admit that you made that mistake. Apologize and ask for forgiveness and people will see a vulnerable side to you that they will feel invited to help you recover. It makes you real and authentic and, well, trustworthy.
