How to Choose a Dentist? | Orthodontist | Dr. Nate
ChannelNathan CoughlinDescription from the creator
Hey everyone Dr. Nate trying to help spread some knowledge. In this video we go over what you should look for in a dental office. We also go over what your first visit will entail and what you can expect. It's so important that you feel comfortable at your dental office and I show some of the ways we try to do that.
Even if you don't go to our office you should still look for the following things:
1. Digital Xrays. This is absolutely essential. Digital Xrays produce way less radiation therefore less chance of any DNA break down in your cells. If your dentist is not using digital Xrays run!
2. You should be getting pictures taken of your teeth. This is the best way to see what is going on and you will feel more comfortable with what your doctor is proposing if you can actually see it with your own eyes. Don't just take their word for it. You should be able to see what's going on.
3.. If you are 6 years an older you should be getting two types of Xrays. A panoramic Xray (overall picture of wisdom teeth, erupting teeth etc.) and close in Xrays called Bite Wings (BWs) and Periapicals (PAs). These allow the dentist to see bone levels and cavities between the teeth.
4. You want a warm and welcoming environment. In this day and age you should feel comfortable at your dental office. This will NOT COST YOU MORE. Just because an office is nice does not necessarily mean it is more expensive. It just means your doctors care about how you feel when you walk in. If you're relaxed then it makes everyone's lives better.
5. Ideally there will be forms of entertainment so that you can be calm and relaxed if you have to get any treatment completed. At our offices we have Netflix, essential oils, games, movies etc so that you can feel at ease.
There are many more items you should look for but I believe the ones above are essential. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions you want answered please leave a comment below!
