Description from the creator

In this Geotechnical Engineering tutorial, we walk through the process of classifying different soil types—from coarse-grained to fine-grained—using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) chart. Whether you are a Civil Engineering student or a practicing professional, this video simplifies the complex logic of the Atterberg Limits and Sieve Analysis results.

This video explains how to classify four different soils using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). There are four soils to be classified in this video. Soil 1 0:01:41 Soil 2 0:03:50 Soil 3 0:05:55 Soil 4: 0:08:33. First two soils (Soil 1 and Soil 2) are coarse-grained soils and also non-plastic. We will classify them based on their gradation, which means that we will need to determine the coefficient of curvature and coefficient of uniformity. Soil 3 and Soil 4 are plastic soils, we are required to classify them based on their plasticity, using the plasticity chart youtu.be/sGt8ZIldsVA
