How to determine if the derivative exist from the left and right of a absolute value

👉 Learn how to determine the differentiability of an absolute value function. A function is said to be differentiable if the derivative exists at each point in its domain. To check the differentiability of a function, we first check that the function is continuous at every point in the domain.
A function is said to be continuous if two conditions are met. They are: the limit of the function exists and that the value of the function at the point of continuity is defined and is equal to the limit of the function. Otherwise, the function is discontinuous.
Though the absolute value function is continuous, it can be proved that it is not differentiable. Because the value of the limit from the left is not equal to the value of the limit from the right.
