Description from the creator

 @Explained Chemistry
The way to distinguish between the aldehydes and ketones relies on how easy aldehydes can be oxidized, while ketones don’t further oxidize.
The two oxidizing reagents Tollens’ reagent and Fehling’s solution can be used to distinguish between the aldehydes and ketones.
First, with aldehydes Tollens’ reagent forms silver mirror of reduced silver; with ketones, nothing happens and the colorless solution of Tollens’ does not change.
When Fehling’s solution is warmed with any aldehyde, it oxidizes the aldehyde into the corresponding carboxylic acid, and the blue copper ions Cu2+ are reduced to the red/orange Cu+ ions. With ketones, no change is observed.
