HOW TO ENJOY READING YOUR BIBLE
The bible says that “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of the Lord” (Deut. 8:3).
It is therefore essential for every Christian to study God’s Word (2 Tim. 2:15) in order to feed his spiritual life.
At first it is the “sincere milk of the word” (1 Pet. 2:2)
And later “stronger meat” (Heb. 5:14) that causes growth.
However, the believer must learn HOW TO EAT in order to really enjoy the meal.
Spiritual indigestion is often the result of wrong eating and in many cases, devouring so much at one sitting that it cannot possibly be digested and assimilated.
Advice on “how to eat” can be of great assistance if it is put into practice and also of tremendous benefit for spiritual growth.
In this study we shall consider a method of study called S.P.A.D.E.
When S.P.A.D.E.work” is properly, you will grow.
The deeper we dig (S.P.A.D.E work) into the Word of God the more precious truths we shall find.
The headings of S.P.A.D.E are as follows:
SETTING
PEOPLE
ACTIONS
DOCTRINES
ESSENTIAL POINTS

1. SETTING.
When seeking to study a book of the Bible, a chapter of even a verse, the question should first be asked: “What is the setting?”, i.e. Who wrote it, when was it written, what were the circumstances under which it was written, where did the incidents take place?? Etc. when this has been clearly established in your mind you will then be in a position to procede further.
I also suggest that a good Bible dictionary and a concordance.

2. PEOPLE
The characters involved should be carefully noted and all information concerning them sought for. The question should also be asked: why are these people involved and for what purpose?

3. ACTIONS.
In this category one should establish the actual happenings or order of vents. By so doing a clear fixture is formed in one’s mind of all that is taking place. Don’t be afraid to use your imagination….. See it happen!

4. DOCTRINES.
Remember, the Bible also teaches DOCTRINE (2 Tim. 3:16) ( John 7:16) and one should always seek to clearly establish what is being taught about God – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - and also every aspect of Holy living.

5. ESSENTIAL POINTS.
It is important not to miss the ESSENTIAL POINTS of the scriptures your are studying.
What are the Scriptures saying to YOU?
There should be a personal application at all times and the Voice of God to you must not be missed.
Remember all scripture is given by inspiration of the Spirit of God.
Jesus said : “My Words are LIFE” (Jn 6:63).
