How to Fix a Leaky Air Mattress for $2 by @GettinJunkDone

In this video, I try to fix a leaking air mattress using a cheap Slime bicycle tire repair patch kit from Walmart.

I originally went to a pool supply store looking for a vinyl pool patch kit, but the guy there talked me out of it. He explained that pool patches are designed for water pressure pushing the patch against the wall, while an air mattress needs something that can hold back air pressure from the inside. His suggestion was a bicycle tire patch kit, and it ended up being cheaper too.

To find the leak, I used a spray bottle with soapy water and checked around the seams. The hole ended up being on the felt side of the mattress, so I had to sand the felt down to the bare vinyl before applying the rubber cement and patch.

If your air mattress slowly leaks overnight and leaves you sleeping on the floor, this may be worth trying before throwing it away.

Have you ever patched an air mattress this way? Let me know what worked for you.
