Description from the creator

We spend more time with our smartphones than with our dearest ones. Theres no doubt about that. First thing you wake up, during your rides, at work, when you’re out, and the last thing before you go to sleep.

Its addictive and everywhere, but is also very important to know about the cell phone etiquette.

First of all Be respectful. Communicating over the phone is not much different than communicating in face-to-face interactions. Things like being polite, using kind words, waiting for the speaker’s turn to talk are important habits that contribute to healthy and positive communication on the phone as well as off.

Know how to place a formal call. You should know the difference between formal and informal calls. Making a doctors appointment or calling a business isn’t the same as calling your friends and family to arrange something or see how they’re doing.

In order to be taken seriously by potential employers, college advisors, and other authority figures, use a more direct, businesslike approach on the phone.

Feel free to speak up if necessary.  It’s no secret that phone microphones are often poorly made and the audio might not be clear on the other end. So you shouldn’t only be clear and direct, but also speak up if necessary. Or kindly ask the other party to speak up if you’re having trouble to hear them.

This is not a big deal and don’t be ashamed to fix the problem when you can.

Remember--No talk while driving.  Its not only distraction that will make you sound unprofessional and unclear, but remember that youre risking yours and life of others. Plus, its illegal in most places on the world.

think before using the phone in the company of others.

Knowing exactly when to use the phone can be tricky sometimes. Sometimes it can seem unpleasant to others and make them feel unimportant.

Think how would you feel if this was the case, no matter if it’s a phone call or texting. Even checking your social media can be quite annoying and impolite.

make calls only during appropriate hours. Standard phone etiquette means that you don’t place calls before 7:00 on weekdays or before 9:30 on weekends.
If you call before these times, you might wake someone up. You should also not call during dinner time, since people do not want to have their meals and family time interrupted.

This is you respecting other peoples lives, privacy and time. Its always going to be very appreciated by everyone around you and will also make you feel better about yourself.

Turn the phone off as needed. If you’re in a place that demands silence, respect that. Don’t let yourself get into an embarrassing situation. Also, think of others and how they would feel if they’re being disturbed by someone else’s phone.

Its important to think of others when you’re around them, how they feel and what would they think of your behaviour around them.

ALWAYS REMEMBER
Behavior is the mirror in which everyone shows their image.
