How to get experience in Human Resource Management: Internships

Human Resources can be a rewarding career. Wondering how to get your foot in the door? Graduate student Cody Phillips managed to snag a paid Internship with the HR official here at Columbus State University. In addition, he is an active member (VP to be exact!) in the student chapter of SHRM.

He is also pursuing an MS in Human Resources right here in Turner College. He sat down with us and talked about how he is able to work by day and take classes by night. The result is that the challenges he faces at work are discussed as management decisions by night. As he prepares for graduation, he will be entering the job market better prepared to lead his next organization to success.

Cody is getting real world experience as the University evolves their work force. Job descriptions change, job titles change, and database management is also an important factor. Another great thing about this particular internship is that he is receiving course credit. If you are interested in a career in HR, starting with a degree is a great decision.
