Description from the creator

How can you get noticed at work? Learn to advocate for yourself by sharing what you do on a daily basis. At joelinspirationalspeaker.com, you’ll find valuable information on this topic: “The Invisible Leaders: How to Find Them and Make Them Shine.”

Self-advocacy means being more transparent about what you’re doing so you’ll know how to get noticed at work. How can you do that without feeling like you’re bragging?

• Ask your boss whether your idea of how to handle a challenge is how he would deal with it.
• As you report back to your boss about a project, share how you negotiated challenges you encountered.
• Ask your boss how you can contribute more to her efforts, mentioning how recent projects have prepared you for greater challenges.
• Ask your coworkers about what they’re doing and share what you’re working on.

The leaders you work among often see a very small slice of what their people do. To make them aware of how you can contribute more to your organization, you need to actively work to self-advocate in these ways. Often people are defined by their job roles, when they’re really contributing much more. Even if your boss knows what you’re doing on a daily basis, other leaders may not.

Show the progress you’ve made by sharing stories of how you’ve found solutions to challenges. Don’t assume your boss or coworkers know how you’ve grown.

Asking these questions will also give you valuable feedback, show you’re open to others’ input, and help you build a rapport with others. Look for ways to discuss the projects you’re working on with your coworkers, as well as asking about theirs.

Ask your boss for advice on growing your leadership skills to signal that you’re preparing to keep advancing in your career. For instance, ask for tips on running meetings so you can be a more effective leader. Tell your boss that you’re eager to take on more responsibility. Take initiative to ask your boss about the work he is doing and how you can contribute more to it.

As you learn how to get noticed at work, your boss or other leaders will probably start offering you higher-profile projects. You’ll also gain respect and admiration from your coworkers, priming you to step into a leadership position, if you’re not in one already.

At joelinspirationalspeaker.com, hire Joel to give a motivational speech or training at your workplace. He’ll instill the confidence in your employees to help them grow their leadership skills, tackle higher-profile projects, and become known for driving results. This is how to get noticed at work.
