How to go to College for FREE (or nearly free)
ChannelKevin ConwayDescription from the creator
College is very expensive. Most people think student loans are their only option. I'm here to tell you that's not true. In this video, I will break down how to go to college for free (or nearly free).

It is estimated that the average cost of a four year degree exceeds $100,000 when counting tuition, room and board, and living expenses. So what are you supposed to do if you don't want to take on student loan debt and be part of the student loan debt crisis?
(1) Work for a company that pays for your tuition
There are many companies that will cover some, or all, of your tuition. One of the best is Starbucks. If you work part time (20+ hrs/week) for three consecutive months, you will become benefits-eligible, which means Starbucks will pay for your tuition at Arizona State University. The Starbucks ASU online tuition program is one of the most generous and straightforward. You can quit Starbucks as soon as you finish the program as well. If you go the ASU Starbucks route, you will (1) avoid tuition, (2) save on living expenses, (3) earn money, and (4) gain work experience. This will allow you to go to college for free and on a great personal finance path!

(2) Go to a tuition-free college
Tuition is expensive. But some college don't have any tuition! Check these colleges out:
Alice Lloyd College (KY)
Barclay College (KS)
Berea College (KY)
College of the Ozarks (MO)
Curtis Institute of Music (PA)
Deep Springs College (CA)
St. Louis Christian College (MO) [on-campus students only]
Webb Institute (NY)
William E. Macaulay Honors College at CUNY (NY)
Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades (PA)
Some have work restrictions, but going to college for free certainly is worth a few hours of work a week!
(3) Look into tuition-free programs for lower income families
If your family makes below a certain income, you can get college tuition covered 100%. For example, if your family makes below $125,000, Stanford will cover your tuition. You can see a partial list here: collegeraptor.com/find-colleges/articles/afford…
(4) Join the military
The military can be a great option for a lot of people because you can get the majority of your schooling covered and get guaranteed a job after graduation.
(5) Ask the school for money
If you get accepted but cannot afford the tuition, talk to the admissions office. Often, the admissions officers will work with you to give you a scholarship or increase the scholarship you already have. The universities want you to go to the school and they will work with you.
(6) Apply for LOCAL scholarships
Applying for scholarships is a no brainer. But many people only apply for national scholarships. The real low hanging fruit is with local scholarships. These may be smaller in dollar amounts, but the pool of applicants is substantially smaller. Thus, your likelihood of winning a scholarship is necessarily much higher. If you win a few small scholarships, this can add up to thousands. Often, the application is similar across all local scholarships. Take advantage of applying for local scholarships!
(7) Go to Community College
Community college is much cheaper than university. If you knock out the first two years at community college, you can transfer to a four year university, earn the same degree, and save a ton of money.
(8) Go to a Public University (Over a Private University)
If you go to a four year university, go to a public school over a private school. It will save you so much more money and chances are you will end up in the same job as your similarly situated private school peers.
Overall, watch out for student loan debt. Check out my other videos for personal finance for beginners advice and general money tips.
Good luck!
