This Turkish-English speaking 6-year old needs to increase her reading skills. In therapy, I work to build her sight word recognition. If children can fluently read the most common sight words in English, this greatly improves their reading fluency, or overall reading speed. I start with simple drill on the sight words. We then engage in a hands-on activity to incorporate these sight words into sentences. Using real 3-dimensional objects helps add interest to the activity.
