Description from the creator

How to play The Flame on guitar by Cheap Trick is a great guitar song for intermediate players.

This is an in-depth look at The Flame. This song uses open chords, barre chords, arpeggio picking, power chords, palm muting and a simple strumming pattern.

I will show you how to play The Flame on guitar and talk you slowly through each part. I will start by showing you the chords they use in the song Asus2, Bsus4, Bsus2, B, a D shaped E, E and D. Then we will move on to the parts of the song. You will also learn how to arpeggio pick the intro, verse, and pre chorus.

One of the harder aspects of the song is being able to arpeggio pick the chords and change them at the same time.
The song uses a clean 12 string guitar on the arpeggio picking and the strummed chords in the chorus, there is also a second guitar playing in the chorus using a distorted setting.

This is a tricky song and sounds easier than what it is, but with some practice you’ll get it. We will finish with how the parts of The Flame by Cheap Trick go together.
This is a series of guitar songs that Michael Warren will be posted weekly for Essential Guitar Lessons. I hope you enjoy this song and as always take your time and build your speed.
