Why should you consider filming live sessions?

Extract the themes from the song and interpret it visually

Have time to prep and pre-light

Create a gameplan before shooting

Get creative with Lighting

Create layers with Light

Match the vibe of the artist and the tone of the song

Stay flexible when challenges arise

Prioritize your focal points/band members

Get coverage and attention to detail based on that

Section the performances into takes

Get in the flow and groove of who you are filming

Align yourself with artists you like

In the past few years I've shot and edited live sessions for musicians in Germany, Switzerland, LA. Although very different places on earth, the studios usually are a square box that, even if similar, can become a sandbox for you to create and experiment in.
