Description from the creator

This free online math video is the second of the Two Step equation solving tutorials. Once again equations are shown that require two inverse operations be performed, one after the other.

This video features examples with fractions, decimals, and different placement of the unknowns.

As in the first tutorial, inverse operations are performed on both sides of the equation to solve for the unknown. The solutions are then substituted back into the original equation to see if they have been solved correctly.

The importance of writing the inverse operations neatly underneath is reviewed.

After the first inverse operation is performed on both sides we will be left with a one step equation to solve.

Also discussed is the importance of not rewriting equations in order to not ¨lose¨ the negative signs.

Here is the complete series of equation solving videos. For best results watch in order.

This is appropriate for helping seventh grade, eighth grade and ninth grade math students with equation solving. A certified and experienced teacher shows the inverse operations in a clear and concise manner.
