In the wake of the pandemic happening, it has caused many places around the country as well as Oahu to shut down and change the way we operate and live our normal lives. This includes going to the gym, going to concerts and music festivals , eating out at restaurants, and the list goes on and on.

1. Give a Great Yelp Review
Yelp is an amazing place where most people go to in order to learn more about a business. Whenever I want to try out a new restaurant I’ll always go to yelp to check out their menu, their reviews, the food, etc And obviously if a I see a bunch of negative reviews saying how the food is bad or the service sucks, I would probably be more inclined to never go to that restaurant ever….So Yelp reviews go a long way and I’m sure a restaurant or business would be very very appreciative if you left a nice review.

2. Like and comment on their instagram posts
Yes believe it or not, doing this helps their instagram and business. How? Just like YouTube, Instagram has an algorithm as well. I’m not sure if they’re the same exact algorithm but they’re pretty similar in which the more a post gets likes and comments in other words engagement…it will bring out the post and show it to more people scrolling through instagram!

By doing that you are essentially helping the business get more reach, more reach means more views, more views leads to more discovery, and eventually that leads to HOPEFULLY more business for the small business.

3 Tag friends in their posts
Again another easy way to support small businesses without using any money. You want to tag friends in their pots. It’s super simple and helps spread and promote the business in a more direct way. Because now you are drawing in more eyes to their instagram page. When your friends see this tag, they’ll see the post and if they like what they’ll see they’ll think oh wow this is cool who is this? Then they’ll check that business profile and then look at their other posts and who knows maybe they’ll go down the rabbit whole and look through the entire page. I know it happens because I am speaking from experience

4 Share them on your Instagram story
This is Another super simple way to support small businesses without any money. It's because you help them get more exposure. I love the story feature on instagram because I feel like it gets WAY more exposure out to more people. By putting them on your story you’re allowing people to see the business

5 Give them a shout out
This is kinda like all the other tips combined but I had to make it it’s own because you can really do this in anyway you want. Whether you Make a post about them or post them on your story, what you want to do is tag them.

Because when you tag them you allow your viewers to click on the tag and discover who the business is….It’s also kind of like your own testimonial or Yelp review but you showing all your social media friends and followers.
