So in summery, here is what you need to fish small ponds with children;

Ultra light rod, 5'0 to 6'0 Length
Small spinning (open face reel)
2-4 Lb line preferably put on by someone at a legitimate sporting good store (this will prevent line tangles)
Small hooks (1 or 2 ought) with a long shank
Small floats. The smaller the better
Live bait
Lots of patience
