How to track changes in Word? That's quite simple. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to turn on the track changes function and which changes can be made visible.

Procedure:
First we need to turn on the track changes function by going to the "Review" tab and clicking on "Track changes". To really make all changes visible, we also need to select "All Markup" in the dropdown menu to the side of the "Track changes" button. Afterwards we can start correcting the document. We can remove characters which leads to a redline on the characters. We can also add characters and change the formatting of the text. At the end you are also going to learn how to add comments in the text, how to deactivate the "Track Changes" function and how to hide the changes but still keep them.

Why all that?
Often we need to correct a document for another person. Now we could directly correct it or write our correction in the comments. But this would make it complicated for the author to find the corrected spots or it would mean that a lot of additional works needs to be done. With the automatic "Track Changes" function in Word, we can easily correct a document while making the corrections visible and thus saving time.

This tutorial for #track #changes in #Word should work for Word 2007, Word 2010, Word 2013, Word 2016, Word 2019 and also Office 365. This also works with Microsoft Office on a Mac and also with open source software such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
