Description from the creator

An applied case study of using abstract classes with generics to make Java programs more typesafe, less error-prone, and a more efficient (smaller) codebase. We create an abstract superclass DAO that uses generic identifiers to specify method parameter types. This abstract class has all of the Hibernate commit overhead. Subclasses specify the generic type they are using, and implement an abstract method.

Abstract classes and generics are common technical interview questions. If you have a technical interview, the first five minutes of this video explain the concepts of generics and abstract classes. The last 30 minutes show how to apply these in a case study.
