How to use Spaced Retrieval to memorize facts....forever!

Spaced Retrieval Practice is a technique from psychology that vastly improves our long term retention of facts. The basic idea is that we all forget facts that we don't use. However, if we space out practicing remembering those facts, we can get long term retention. And the gap before we have to practice again gets longer and longer over time!

Anki is a free, open source, multi-platform software that is basically flashcard, but with spaced retrieval practice built in. You regularly practice retrieving the knowledge from your long term memory, and the software adjusts the time until you next need to do this.

Watch out! While the desktop, web, and android versions are free, the iOS app is expensive. However, you can still just use the web app on iOS and save your money.
