This video shows you what the 10 requirements are to summarise effectively. We use an essay, a story and an article as examples to test if the summaries fit the requirements. It is useful for both primary and advanced learners. Summarising is a life skill. We demonstrate how to skim, scan, combine sentences by using participle phrases and connectives. You will also see different approaches to summarise like answering Wh- and How questions; and how to cut out supporting sentences to key ideas in paragraphs to create effective summaries. A very useful video.
