Description from the creator

Welcome to my FIRST FREE knitting tutorial!
This video explains how to knit my FREE RETRO STYLE BEANIE!

FIND THE PATTERN HERE: ravelry.com/patterns/library/free-retro-style-b…
The techniques used for this pattern can be found below.
Remember to tag #Retrobeanie so that I can see all your creations on Instagram!!

This is a double stranded beanie that is knit in the round. You will need 150-200g of 8 ply (DK weight) yarn, 8mm (US 11) circular needles, stitch marker, sewing needle, pom pom maker and scissors.

There are 9 different pattern/colour schemes that I have included in the written pattern. You can follow these scheme's or you can make your own version! It's completely up to you :D

INSTRUCTIONS
Casting on in the round (youtube.com/watch?v=ZeSAk9KsIeg&t=93s).
Remember to cast on 1 extra stitch for your beanie because you will knit the first and last stitch together to join into the round (youtube.com/watch?v=BjrJDu4MOHk&t=13s). These 2 stitches will essentially become 1 stitch.

Next you will start your Rib. The rib is a Knit 1, Purl 1 rib (see video here youtube.com/watch?v=_rwazAA50y4). In total, all sizes and patterns will have 14 rounds of rib (or your desired height).

For the body of the beanie you simply need to knit all stitches. Knitting is the basic stitch so this pattern is super easy (youtube.com/watch?v=GkWgeIke3pE). This part is where you can change colours and introduce your own unique designs.
Remember when you are changing colours to do the Jogless Knit (youtube.com/watch?v=fHcnhzh-21w&t=17s). The jogless knit will help to create that seamless colour change and is a technique used exclusively for changing colours in the round. Remember to also move the stitch marker when you finish a round.

The crown is decreased over a total of 11 rounds for all sizes (Crown decrease technique youtube.com/watch?v=tlbEHBzvgEg&t=12s). The decreases happen on "odd" rounds and on the "even" rounds it is just knitting all stitches.
This decrease uses the K2TOG decrease method (youtube.com/watch?v=jdfwMSzD3P8&t=17s) so please get familiar with this.

Finishing up is obviously the last step. Sew in all your loose ends and fasten off securely. This part is when you can make and add your pom pom. I highly recommend buying yourself a pom pom maker. If you don't have one then there will be tutorials online for you to follow!
Your Retro Style Beanie is now finished! I hope you enjoyed the pattern as much as I have enjoyed creating it for you!
