"Rolling in the Deep" Guitar Tutorial - Adele (Simple Chords & Strumming)

Hey everyone!

In today's lesson, I'm going to show you how to play "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele. This song is pretty easy as far as the chords AND strumming are concerned. But in order to play everything for the right amount of time, we're going to have to do a LOT of counting!

We start out with some chord shapes: Am, Em, G. I go over the absolute most efficient way to switch between them (which you'll need, since we're going to be making some pretty quick switches later on). And once we've practiced that a bit, we start focusing on the counting.

Most of the time, we play each chord for a predictable amount of time, usually divided into 2 or 4. Like, 4 beats of C, followed by 4 beats of G, etc.

In this song, it's a lot trickier. We play Am for 4.5 beats, and then Em is displaced by an eighth note and all this other stuff. We spend a LOT of time in the video getting this stuff down, so be sure to read the diagrams! I'd pause the video and really take a good look... gotta get that counting in order!

After that, we finish up the strumming pattern (one of the simplest ones ever... all downstrokes) by adding palm muting, and then we play the verse.

The rest of the sections (pre-chorus, chorus, 2nd chorus, bridge) are all MUCH simpler to count than the rest of it, so once you get past that first little bit, it's all good from there!
