How To: Casablanca Three Speed (w/ Reverse) Conversion

THIS CONVERSION PROCESS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH NEW 5XXXX series Casablanca fans. It only applies to older fans using the Emerson K55, Casablanca XLP, Astrosyn, and Samsung motors, which all have clear identifying labels on the side of the motor.

This is kind of an intense one, guys. I tried to pack as much information in here as I could, but also hope I didn't muddy the waters trying to fit in too many scenarios. Over 40 years, Casablanca did a lot of stuff, so it's impossible to account for every nuance that you may encounter. Most ceiling fan enthusiasts will grasp a lot of what I'm talking about and figure it out, but I tried to be very specific for any amateurs looking to do this. Any questions, hit me up in the comments and I'll try to help more specifically with your fan. The main advice I want to stress is, regardless of your specific setup, all wiring of the devices ends up THE SAME. Your layout may look different, especially if you are doing all the wiring down in the switch housing, but follow along with where each component connects and you'll be fine.

Depending on your fan and the length of downrod, you may need multiples of these kits to have enough wire. You can also source other 18 AWG (or larger size 16, 14, etc.) stranded wire in bulk if necessary.

If there's any doubt about the pull chain, your best bet is finding a Zing Ear ZE-208S E-89885.
