ASCAP COMPOSER SPOTLIGHT ascap.com/ComposerSpotlight is a powerful resource for film, television and video game producers seeking to discover and connect with some of the best and brightest emerging composers. ASCAP COMPOSER SPOTLIGHT “COMPOSERS TO WATCH” features sample cues, bios, resumes and website links for select participants from the ASCAP Visual Media Scoring Workshops. The SPOTLIGHT also includes composers whose films have been featured at the Sundance and Telluride Film Festivals.

Emerging film, TV or other visual media creators often assume they will be unable to find an exceptional film composer willing to work on their first, third or otherwise low-to-mid-level-budget project. Or they just don’t know where to look to find one. In actuality, there are many very talented, highly trained, available composers, also just getting started, who just don’t know how to find the media creators. ASCAP’s Creative Services team works with emerging to well-established composers daily. You will find your composer at the ASCAP Composer Spotlight.

This video was shot during the 2015 ASCAP Columbia University Film Scoring Workshop. This Workshop, created and taught by Columbia University Faculty member, Alex Steyermark, utilizes the ASCAP Composer Spotlight to pair graduating Columbia University Film School Students with composers to score their final thesis films. Several films scored in the Workshop have received Student Academy Awards; all films screen at multiple prestigious international film festivals including Cannes, Tribeca, Montreal, Palm Springs ShortFest and many more.
