How To Install Beveled Arabesque Backsplash - Complete Job

Installing a backsplash in your home is a great way to really show off your kitchen. This unique crackled beveled arabesque tile can be a challenge to install if you don’t plan ahead. If you’re installing an irregular shaped tile this is the video for you.

The first thing is to make sure you protect the countertop. We use a double layer protection system to make sure that the countertop and cabinets don’t get damaged. A drop cloth covered with painters plastic helps protect the counter and drop cloth. Keeping a clean drop cloth saves $$ on tools.

For irregular tile, like the arabesque, dry laying it out and marking it will help with job efficiency. You will also easily be able to see how to maximize tile size and avoid small cuts. We like to have the biggest pieces possible and you can see we were able to accomplish that with this installation.

We grout beveled tile by filling the joint to the surface and then removing the excess grout with the corner of our grout float. Let the grout tack off well before using a damp sponge to remove the excess grout. We also like to only wash with a sponge once then buff the haze off with a dry towel.

A few other tips. Turn off the breakers to the outlets and cover them with electrical tape to avoid getting shocked. While the breakers are off check that the outlets are the same distance off the countertop, bows a good time to make small adjustments for a cleaner overall project.
