More and more people (especially young adults and millennials) are facing situations where they need to make new friends. You might move to a new city for a job and not know anybody, your college friends might move after graduating, or you might just grow apart from some of your friends and find yourself needing to make new friends and have better friendships.

Part of "adulting" means making new friends. Making friends as an adult (or making friends after college) requires you to be a lot more proactive than as a student in college or high school, where you’re surrounded by people your age with similar interests. It can be a bit intimidating or uncomfortable, but it’s worth the initial discomfort. The following are three simple steps to making friends as an adult. Here are my 3 basic, simple steps for how to make friends as an adult.

Step 1: Make a list of things you want from your new friendships

Step 2: Go out of your way to make new friends (even if you're an introvert!)
