How to write an Artist Statement

An artist statement is an important part of being an artist. Writing your artist statement will help you put words on your thoughts and ideas, regarding your artistic expression -and this is important to make people connect with your art.

You can feel quite lost when you are asked the question:
"What is your message?", -and here comes your answer: "I have no message, I just do this for fun".

Come one, this is not the case, at least not for the most. Having gone through writing your artist statement, you will never again come up with an empty answer like this.

On the other hand, many galleries, public exhibition spaces, solicitudes for artist residencies, etc., will be demanding your artist statement, as an absolutely basic requirement. It also looks good on your website, so let's get started.
