Description from the creator

Chests overflowing with hidden treasure and jewels, long-lost maps leading to adventure and mischief and only the endless open sea for you and your motley crew to explore - ah yes, the pirate’s life is definitely for us! And we know exactly who we’d want as captain...

Not only has salty sea dog and outstanding illustrator Jonny Duddle been designing pirates for games, picture books, stop-motion films and children’s books for years, he’s even spent a year working on a pirate ship himself! We can almost smell the salty sea air and hear the parrots squawking from his books. So when it came down to drawing our very own pirate, we knew exactly the scoundrel to shout ahoy to.

Earlier in the year Jonny joined us at Simms Cross Primary School in Widnes to help the children design their very own swashbuckling, sea-loving pirate. Cue a huge flipchart, a classroom of excited kids and a pirate’s hat with the finest plumage we’ve ever seen worn on land. Take a look at Jonny’s incredible free-hand sketching in our fun How to Draw a Pirate video.
