Description from the creator

In this video we'll show you an easy way to lay-out a WTF-style 8m octagonal sparring ring. For written instructions, check out the Taekwondo Wiki: taekwondo.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_make_an_octagon…

A WTF regulation-sized 8m octagon has a 26.510m perimeter, and 8.659m center diagonals. The perimeter should be marked off every 3.314m to form the edges of the octagon. Of course, the ropes themselves should be cut slightly longer so that you have extra length for fastening the corners.

For each octagon you’ll need five ropes: one perimeter rope, and four ropes for the four center diagonals.

If you’re not especially good with knots, you’ll need something to fasten the corners with. Zip-ties can work. If you use plastic polycord rope, you can also use a grill-lighter to melt the connections together (and to melt the rope-ends). But really, any good fastening technique should work.

You’ll want a sharpie or other dark marker to mark-off the fastening-points on your ropes. To complete the octagon on your practice mats, you’ll need tape (such as masking tape) to trace-out the octagon.

Shopping list to make the version seen in this video: 3 bags of 100' polycord rope, zip ties, grill lighter, sharpie, masking tape, scissors or knife to cut the rope.
