If you find just simply inserting the thread like I show is challenging, you may use a needle threader.

Insert the needle threader thru the needle eye and then pull the thread thru the needle threader. Then as you pull the needle threader back thru the needle, the thread comes thru the needle as well.

You may also find that if the thread doesn't go thru the needle eye the first try, put the thread in your mouth and then try again. (that last tip is a little hard to explain but hopefully you get the point) Your saliva gets the thread damp and the thread can go thru the needle eye easier.
