How To Dedicate More Ram To A Minecraft Server [ALL VERSIONS]

In this video I show you how to dedicate more ram to you minecraft server. Feel free to ask me any questions if you run into any problems.

Code: java -Xms2G -Xmx2G -jar minecraft_server.1.8.4.jar

(Your .jar file name may be different depending on your minecraft server version.)

Try this if your .bat flashes when you open it:

Lag Spike's Comment - "If the window closes for you right away it means you need to type .jar at the end of your server name in the batch file."

Next make sure you downloaded minecraft_server.jar instead of minecraft_server.exe. Then in your .bat file code make sure you put the same name your .jar server file has after the java -Xms2G -Xmx2G -jar code. (It has to be exactly the same as the .jar file name you downloaded or it wont work.)

If it still doesn't work try putting the path to where your java installation is located in your .bat file. For example my java is installed in Program Files so my .bat code would be:
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -Xms2G -Xmx2G -jar minecraft_server.jar

In some cases the Java version that you have installed causes the crashing. If you have forge installed on the server and have Java 8 try installing Java 7 instead.
