In Dota 2 you can "deny" creeps. What this does is it denies the enemy team gold and experience, which is very helpful.

Another instance that it is useful is if your creeps are almost dead but still charging ahead like idiots, you can finish them off.

Towers can be denied, which will greatly reduce the amount of gold enemy heroes get.

Most people will know how to do this, but, if you are new to Dota, and RTS's in general you may have a hard time like I did.
