HOW TO Evolve Scyther into Scizor in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Evolution guide for evolving Scyther into Scizor in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Scyther is a trade evolution and requires a Metal Coat as a held item when traded, in order for Scyther to evolve into Scizor.

To get Scyther, go to the Training Lowlands and there will be a 5% chance to encounter a Scyther in the overworld. The next step is to get a Metal Coat and there are two ways to do this. You can go to Bridge Fields and do some digging with the Digging Duo and eventually get a Metal Coat. You can also try to use the move THIEF on a Magnemite, which you can find in at the Challenge Beach by a 36% chance. Each Magnemite has a 5% chance of holding a Metal Coat.

When you have obtained a Metal Coat, you have to open your bag and GIVE the Metal Coat to your Scizor. You will then have to put your Scizor in the PC and find a trade partner.

When you trade a Scyther holding a Metal Coat to another player, Scyther will evolve into Scizor. You can trade Scyther for any Pokémon and still have it evolve. In all Pokémon main series games you can trade Pokémon as many times as you want, back and forth.
