TRANSCRIPT:

Hello there. So you're probably watching this because you have something like this problem:
whenever you try to open up your modpack you hit launch and it just doesn't do anything!

So stick with me and I'll show you how to fix this, and what to do if that doesn't work.

So this is actually an issue with feed the beast's compatibility with java eight.
If you hit the 'options' tab on the launcher and go into 'Advanced Options' at the bottom here, check what it says in your Java Path. JRE stands for java runtime environment and that's what minecraft needs to work.

If it says jre8 here, then congrats! This tutorial is probably going to do the trick for you. If it doesn't then follow the annotation that should be appearing on the screen right now for more things you can do to try to fix your problem.

So! If you're still with us, you're using the wrong version of java. If you know for sure that you've also got java 7 installed, just change this 8 to a 7 and launch the modpack up and you should be done! It'll launch just fine!

If you don't know if you have java 7 or not or don't know the location of it, no worries, we'll do that now.

Hit start, control panel, programs, programs and features

This will give us a list of all the java versions you have on your machine.

Hit the letter j on your keyboard and you'll find it quickly!

Look for these ones, Java and then the version number. If you have a java 7 you can either update the path in the advanced settings of the launcher, which I recommend, or uninstall java 8.

If you're using linux and want to find your JRE PATH variable, try $ which java.

If you don't have java 7 installed, all you'll need to do is google 'jre7 download', accept the license agreement, and download either the x86 version if you're using 32-bit windows or x64 if you're using 64-bit windows.

When you're done with that, update the path in the launcher, and you're good to go. Remember to leave a like if this helped you out so I know if it's working!

If for some reason you're having problems launching modpacks and you're either not using java 8 or changing it didn't help, there are a couple of things you can try.

First off! Open up the launcher and go back to options. Hit this big 'Force Update?' button, go back to the pack tab, select the pack you're having problems with, and click launch. This will redownload the entire pack and it's handy because you might have had a corrupt download.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the ftb launcher and redownloading it from feed-the-beast.com/.

And if you're STILL having problems running your pack, then go on over to the nice people at support.feed-the-beast.com/ and try and search for your issue. Upload any crash reports you have to pastebin and share it, and if you don't see your issue there raise your own question.

Hope that helped! Let me know what problems you guys are having and how you fixed it if you do, because maybe we can help out some other people with it. See ya!
