I thought about just making this again, right? But also , I don't wanna install it all again. I still hope this helps you. Here's a little run through if you get lost watching it:
1) you might need an external drive when your normal drive can't recognise CD-Roms and you have the really old Sims 2 CDs, like me
2) If Disc 1 is scratched you can open the CD in a new window and copy all files to your PC and run the setup from there. However, I tried to figure out if I can do that for CD2, 3 and 4 as well... It didn't work for me? I really had to insert the CDs, luckily, those weren't scratched.
3)If the copy-pasting takes more than a few minutes, get the CD out again and clean it carefully, for me it was just a smudge.
4)Run setup as an admin
5)Win the mini-game, I believe in you
6)For expansion packs: Go to this website and follow the instructions before trying to install the expansion packs answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/h…
(I'm not responsible if you download any spyware or such!)
7)Finally, if you chose the advanced installation and choose the path yourself, don't be stupid like me and just put Sims 2 Basegame in together with all the expansions in a single folder! They all deserve their own
8) EXTRA: wanna record via OBS but fullscreen doesn't work for the recording? Put a shortcut icon on your desktop and edit the "target" (is that the correct term? its "Ziel" in german by typing space and -w behind it. voila, window.
Any more questions? ask away in the comments and I'll see if I can help you.

ADDITION! if a game wont run because "an admin is blocking it" run CMD as an admin (so windows button, type in CMD and run that with right click as an administrator.
then type in the letter of your drive (for me thats D and :, so for me the whole line reads : C:\WINDOWS\system32[greater than]D:
then type in autorun.exe and hit enter
it should work now :)
