Description from the creator

Today's Kerbal Space Program 1.0 Tutorial picks up right where the last one left off: we're taking the rocket we built and seeing if we can turn it into a spaceship. Reaching orbit in KSP is a matter of understanding flight mechanics and orbital mechanics. In this demonstration, I use the rocket we built to use a combination of solid boosters and liquid fuel engines to escape the atmosphere.

Reaching orbit is simply a matter of going fast enough that you are constantly falling but continuously missing the ground. But when the fun is over, you do have to go back home. But don't fire those parachutes too early or you'll become a pancake.
