How to Add Compost to Existing Plants: Black Kow Compost + Fresh Mulch

Today I’m going to show you how to add compost to existing plants using Black Kow compost. So what you do is you pool the soil or the mulch away from the base of the plant. All the way around, you just make a circle and the purpose of adding the Black Kow Compost is to contribute nutrients to the plant in a more organic way.

You could use fertilizer but this is actually a more organic approach and your plant will appreciate just the simulation of an organic soil versus a fertilizer.

So I brought it right here and you just sprinkle it out the base of the plant. Once you have the Black Kow around the base of the plant, then you’re going to take the mulch and just move it right back towards the base and the benefit of the mulch is it’s going to help with water retention and keep weeds away and it will also keep the Black Kow in place around the base of the plant so that you don’t have any erosion that you have to deal with.

It’s a little more time-consuming than just throwing fertilizer around your plants. But it’s also more nurturing too. So if you take the time to add Black Kow Compost to your plants, you will definitely see some better results and your plants will be much happier. They will continue to thrive, grow and bloom as appropriate.
