How to add the 'Ask' page on Tumblr

If your theme doesn't show the Ask tab/page on your blog just follow these easy steps to add it.

1) If your theme doesn't show the Ask tab, go to
-Blog
-Customize theme

2) Under Appearance if it doesn't give you an option to display the Ask tab you'll need to create a page for it

3) To create a new page/tab go to
-Pages
-Add a page

4) Select Redirect

5) In Redirect To type your blog URL and add /ask at the end of the URL: Example: whateveryourblognameis.tumblr.com/ask

6) In Page URL type in your Tumblr URL and after the / put any word it doesn't matter what it is, except for this part don't put /ask it'll give you an error message: Example: whateveryourblognameis.tumblr.com/question

7) In Show A Link To This Page type in the name for your Ask tab, this name will be displayed in your theme. For example: Ask, Ask me anything, etc. Make sure the box in this section is checked.

8) Now, Click Create Page then click Save Page after this window closes make sure to click 'Save' again before closing out of the customize page.

Your theme should now have an Ask tab :)

For those that keep getting the infamous "The URL you requested could not be found"
try this, hopefully that'll fix the problem:
*Make sure "Let people ask questions" is checked, go to Settings-Your Blog-Ask if it's not checked, check it and then click 'Save'.
