How to Amend Your Garden Soil - Step-by-Step Gardening
ChannelSpring Hill NurseriesDescription from the creator
Amending your soil before planting is one of the best investments you can make in the long term success of your garden!
There's an adage that says “You don't ever want to put a twenty-dollar plant in a 50 cent hole.”
If your plant isn't performing as well as you've hoped it would, and you seem to be following all the directions on the tag, giving it plenty of sun, following the water requirements, maybe your problem is soil amending.
Tips for Amending Soil
- Rocks and clay do not create an inviting environment for any plant.
- Amend it with organic matter, such as compost, peat moss, or well-rotted manure, or even some pine bark.
- Take your time in amending your soil. Then, then the plants just pop right in.
- Plants grown in healthy soil will thank you throughout the season with tons of blooms!
Tips for Re-Using Stones From Your Soil
- Wash them all down and use them to create a dry riverbed in your yard.
- Put them at the bottom of a large container to reduce the amount of potting soil you need, help stabilize your large pots in wind, and allow for drainage in your pot.
