Most companies choose to incorporate a business in the State of Nevada due to the advantage it offers concerning taxes, making it an ideal place to establish a business.

It should however be noted that the state of Nevada requires all businesses to obtain a state business license issued by the Nevada Secretary of State to legally operate.

This license is a primary requirement for business owners to obtain before acquiring other types of licenses, including your local business license. To process your registration for a State Business License, You need to figure out the structure for your business whether you would want to operate as a sole proprietor, form a partnership, an LLC or operate as a corporation.

Assuming you have already decided on a business structure for your company, the next step is to obtain a copy of the application form by clicking on this link or by doing a right-click and open link in new tab.

This form can also be obtained directly at nvsos.gov/

Once you have obtained a copy of the application form, all you have to do is read through the step by step instructions specified as you progress in filling out the form.

Given that you are registering as a new business, check to make sure that you tick the box for registration. Also, don't forget to specify the type of state business license being filed whether you are filing as a sole proprietor, general partnership, or other.

In the second section of the form, fill out the appropriate field for your name, middle initial, last name, and Suffix. In case you are operating the business as a sole proprietor, you may go ahead and fill out the fields for your spouse or additional partner if your business structure is a partnership. See to it that you affix the signatures on the appropriate fields as well.

The third section of the form is required only for renewal, amendment, or cancellation of licenses. Given that you are registering to obtain a business license for the first time, you simply leave this part blank.

The next section applies only for businesses that are filing for other types of licenses. In case you're running a business as a Sole Proprietor or forming a partnership, you may leave this part blank as well.

The transacting business names section is provided for you to come up with at least 4 different business names that you intend for your company. While the names you might come up with and write on the given fields aren't guaranteed, it is a requirement in filing out the form. Note however that this is an option for Sole Proprietors.

The business address section is a required field that indicates where your business will operate. It is also the registered address where you will receive your approved business license.

The last section of the application form requires a valid email address and contact number for the office of the Secretary of State to contact you as necessary. As indicated on the form, be sure to include an amount of $200 for the filing filing fee.
